Toons Game Time Recommended Charity Organization: Child's Play (@CPCharity)

Recently on Toons Game Time, I told you about a video game development course, offered by StackSocial (FOUND HERE) that was not only allowing you to name your own price, but donating 10% of its proceeds to one of three charities that you choose.

One of those charities really caught my attention: Child's Play, found at ChildsPlayCharity.org.

Child's Play's mission, as stated on their website is:
Child's Play seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals and domestic violence shelters through the generosity of the video game industry and the power of play.
Simply put, this is just a great idea.

Video games offer an escape to whoever plays them. They allow the gamer to have unlimited potential, uncanny strength and to become a hero, even if for the briefest periods of time. They offer a respite from the realities of the world around us. Sometimes, that's all any of us need.

Child's Play is a 501(c)(3) charity that is currently involved with over 100 Children's Hospitals around the world, including Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, OH.

My son has been going to ACH for nearly 8 years after he began having seizures as a little 'un. The care these hospitals show to ailing youth is nothing short of amazing. From a parent's perspective, seeing people who specialize in caring for children in an environment that keeps those children's perspective in mind with everything they do cannot be assigned a value.

I know it's meant a lot to my wife and I.

That's why I appreciate what Child's Play is doing and encourage you to do what you can to help. Especially if you're looking for a charity to contribute to.

The organization has a number of methods to allow you to donate: PayPal, attendance at any number of social events (like a MegaMan-a-thon being held on Twitch in a few days), various apparel or directly donating to the hospital of your choice by linking up with their Amazon Wish List.

I'm definitely not an expert in the field of charitable organizations, so take this recommendation for what it is. I, however, will be petitioning my wife to include Child's Play in our list of charitable organizations that we contribute to.
