VIDEO: Video Game Release Trailers for Sept 25 - Oct 2, 2015

Hey, once again it's Payday! You're gonna need to know which games you should spend some of that hard-earned cash on. Lucky for you, we're here to help!

The following are the trailers for video games releasing in the upcoming week:

My Impressions of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

28 years after Hideo Kojima gave us the original Metal Gear on MSX2 he now closes the circle on the franchise with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The emotions this brings up for me are on par with the last episode of LOST or when I read the final paragraph of Stephen King’s Dark Tower epic. The telltale sign that you’ve experienced something special is when you realize that you’ve been pondering its ending for days, perhaps even longer. It’s been over a week since I finished the game and I still find my mind returning to its story as this one strikes a nerve deeper than any game before it.

Introducing the Game Time News Feed

Like many of my fellow gamers, I check the various video game news sites daily for the latest information.  There are many reasons to like the sites that are out there and there are glaring reasons to not like the sites as well. That's why I've reorganized ToonsShow.com to make it a little easier to navigate the news of the day from the game industry.

Bethesda.NET's Latest Fallout 4 Video: Strength

On Thursday, Bethesda.NET released its latest teaser video for the upcoming Fallout4. Watch it here and plan on buying the game on Nov 10. Because it should be pretty awesome.

This Date in Game History: Sony Unleashes the PlayStation

It's hard to believe that Sony's behemoth of a franchise turns 20 years old today, but there it is.

On September 9, 1995, the PlayStation was unleashed on the United States to much fanfare. Since then, the series of machines has dominated the American - and worldwide - video game console market. The machine sold on Day One for $299 but the version first released would be far from the last.

This Weekend in Game History: Street Fighter The Movie The Game

How awesome is Street Fighter. You'll notice that's not a question. It's a statement.

Now, how awesome was Street Fighter the movie? That's definitely a question and it's a question whose answer is completely dependent on the person that answers it. Some - like myself - would say that the flick featuring Raul Julia and Jean-Claude Van Damme is completely and unintentionally hilarious and therefore awesome. Others would call it just plain terrible.

Construxnunchux's Shit Japants! LSD Dream Simulator

The "official title" Lovely Sweet Dream was released in 1998 for the PlayStation in which you walk around some of the most terrifying digital landscapes imaginable for 10 minutes exploring and running from a man in black. After 10 minutes, you are transported back to the title screen and you can start your adventure again in new rooms and landscapes.

This Date in Game History: Crash Begins

Occasionally, a video game will come along that is not only a blast in its own time, but holds that appeal for the next generation of gamer. One perfect example of that is Naughty Dog's Crash Bandicoot which released on the this day, Sept 3, 1996, for the Sony PlayStation.

This Date in Game History: The Sims 4

We're not gonna lie, September 2nd is historically bad for game releases. And that makes it wholly appropriate that The Sims 4 is the feature for today's This Date in Game History!

Grow Home: A Game Time Physics Experiment (Video)

Today, PS Plus members get to enjoy the new Ubisoft Reflections creation, Grow Home.

This is not a review of that game. I will wait to do that on the next episode of Toons Game Time.

BONUS! This Date in Game History: Super Mario Kart

Imagine a gaming world without any form of cart racing. That would be a sad world, indeed. For without Super Mario Kart, there might not be a Toons' This Date in Game History today!

This Date in Game History: Blizzard vs BNETD

Blizzard Entertainment, in a lot of ways, rules the gaming world for a large sect of gamers. Whether you're a fan (or not) of World of Warcraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, or any number of other games produced by the gaming giant, there is little doubt that you have played their games.

Which is why Blizzard v BNETD is the focus of today's This Date in Game History.
