VIDEO: Old People Reacting To Mortal Kombat X Goes As Expected

There are some things in life that we can predict with amazing accuracy. Tax Day will make us angry. Driving past a Burger King will make us hungry. Our favorite character will die in Game of Thrones.

Oh, and old people will absolutely cringe at the graphic nature of Mortal Kombat X's Fatalities.

Did You Know? Earthworm Jim Had A Secret Ending

If you grew up in the 90s, Earthworm Jim was a staple of your video gaming youth. But did you know that it had an alternate ending on the PC version?

If you beat the game on Easy, the typical cut scene was replaced with an audio message from the game's creator! Pretty awesome, right?

News Nobody Can Use: Drones, Pig Wrestling and Spermbots?

Here is a look at some of the latest news that you likely won't find from your typical news source. Either way, this is stuff that actually happens. Enjoy.

VIDEO: Star Wars Anthology Movie Announced, But Is That A Good Thing?

If you know anything about me, you know that I absolutely love the entirety of the Star Wars universe. I've been just shy of obsessed since I was a kid. Movies, action figures, books, whatever I could get my hands on, I certainly tried to do exactly that.

This past week in Anaheim, CA, Star Wars Celebration was taking place. They closed out the show with a trailer for a Star Wars movie, but not Episode VII. Instead, there was a reveal for the first of a proposed series called Star Wars Anthology. That film will be entitled Star Wars: Rogue One.

MK Kountdown: Commercial Successes

For today's look at the Mortal Kombat franchise, I figured we'd take a look at the television spots that Midway/Warner Brothers have run over the years. For nostalgia purposes of course. So, from Mortal Monday to today's Mortal Kombat X campaign, here are the commercials for each entry into the MK catalogue.

MK Kountdown: Who Should Be Next?

This is a much later [in the day] post than I actually wanted it to be, but nevertheless, the Kountdown to the release of Mortal Kombat X continues.

Mortal Kombat has been adding and subtracting playable characters to its roster since MK II came out in 1993. In recent years, not only have they continued that tradition, but they've added to it - as other game franchises had - by including guest characters such as Freddy Krueger, Kratos, and this year's additions of Predator and Jason Voorhees.

GIF OVER HERE!!!!: MK Kountdown Continues

It struck me that the internet has a TON of funny stuff on it. So I scoured the web looking for some of the funniest gifs I could find inspired by Mortal Kombat over the years.

MK Kountdown: Mortal Kombat X's Final-ish Roster

There are just seven days until the release of the next Mortal Kombat, the first for next-gen systems. I've made it pretty clear through this site and the Toons' Game Time podcast that I'm looking forward to this game.

How Toons: Brian's Nickel Trick

During Episode 10 of All Wine Aside on The Trending Topics Network, the girls asked listeners to describe their "move" in reference to picking up girls or guys. Of course, in the interest of good radio - and because I was at work at the time - I made a simple submission in the form of "The Nickel Trick."

As a testimonial to the power of The Nickel Trick, when I mentioned the girls' original query, my wife, without prompting, responded with "The Nickel Trick. Helloooo." Need I say more?

.@CONSTRUXNUNCHUX : The Max Headroom Incident

I know our little stunt of hacking didn't go over well with the joy-less, draconian owners Brian and Jack. In summation of saying "too bad" I have to present this as not an intrusion of your privacy but a badge of honor to hang above the box of tissues you used to alleviate the pain of construxnunchux stealing your information. OK, personal attacks aside, hacks are fun (when they don't happen to you) and before the Internet was sharing cats and porn with the world one of the most famous (and unexplained) hacks happened in 1987.

Simply called "The Max Headroom Incident" an unknown person successfully hacked WGN's 9 o'clock news during Bear's highlights. The screen went black for 15 seconds and this guy appears jumping around frantically, and then, as quick as he appeared, he was gone. The broadcast came back and the news anchor Dan Roan laughed it off by saying "If you're wondering what you just saw ... so am I."

PODCAST: April Toons Day!

On this week's Toons, Jack and Brian celebrate the holiday that was clearly named after them.

April Fool's Day (Poisson d'Avril to all you Frenchies) is the one day a year where everybody plays pranks on everybody else. So the guys take the opportunity to discuss some of their favorite pranks, some of the pranks life plays on us every single day and have themselves a round of Are You Freakin' Kidding Me.

So check out this special edition of Toons, available on the Trending Topics Network.

Welcome to the Weekend!
